So, you’ve probably heard of Hamilton. Even if you haven’t listened to the soundtrack, you’ve heard the hype. The show landed a record 16 Grammy nominations, and tickets have been hitting record high prices. Believe it or not, the hype just hit new levels.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical’s creator and star, has announced he’ll be leaving the show after July 9. StubHub is selling tickets for his final performance for a whopping $12,000. What’s more insane is that you have to buy the tickets in a pair, so you’re really putting down $24,000.
Pretty steep, right? We’ve collected a list of things you could buy for the same price as the tickets:
You could purchase five courtside seats to the Cavs-Warriors game tonight. They go for a seemingly insane $4,306 per seat, but compared to Hamilton they’re a steal.
You can either go see a three-hour musical or you can buy a car. The 2015 Chrysler 200 sells for $22,000, so you’ll still have a cool two grand to spare.
Yeah, that’s right: You can buy a house or go to Hamilton. This house in Omaha costs $25,000 so you’d have to throw in an extra $1,000. But still.
3. Cruise Around the World
Or you could take a cruise around the world for $20,000. This cruise starts in Ft. Lauderdale, then heads to Aruba, Panama, El Salvador, Hawaii, Tonga, New Zealand, Australia, New Guinea, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Thailand, India, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Great Britain and Portugal. You decide.
4. Five Floor Seats to the Cavs vs Warriors Game Tonight
You could also buy five floor seats to the NBA Finals game in Cleveland tonight. The courtside tickets go for a seemingly insane $4,306, but compared to Hamilton they’re a steal.
If you’re looking to really treat yourself, you could buy a pretty sick Flash Gordon Rolex for $25,000. People even say a watch is an investment, so there’s that.
