Whiskey is one of the planet’s most popular liquors, so there are plenty of whiskey shots everyone should know how to make. Some are simple, some complicated, but mastering enough will turn the most antisocial wallflower into the bartending life of the party-so long as he doesn’t drop the bottle when he starts to think he’s Tom Cruise. A short trip to the store should be all you need to prepare for these six whiskey shots. After they’re mastered, it will be time to move on to more difficult drinks.
Three Wise Men
One of the easiest shots to make and one that a lot of people know about, a Three Wise Men is equal parts Johnnie Walker, Jim Beam and Jack Daniels. Add one part Wild Turkey to the mix, and you have yourself a Three Wise Men Go Hunting. Separate all four into their own shot glasses and do them in quick succession, and you get a Three Wise Men On The Farm. You also get drunk.
Jim Beam’s Family Recipe
Another easy shot recipe that just requires an armload of whiskey, Jim Beam’s Family Recipe is 1 oz. each Jim Beam, Jim Beam Black Label, Jim Beam’s Choice, Jim Beam rye and bonded bourbon whiskey. Mix it all in a short glass and make sure people drink it like a traditional shot. Best served early in the night to prevent projectile vomiting.
Whiskey Cherry Coke (Cherry Coke #2)
To keep it simple but avoid mass alcohol poisoning, try the quick whiskey Cherry Coke. Mix 1 oz. Crown Royal and 1/2 oz. grenadine syrup in an iced shaker. Strain into a shot glass, top it off with a splash of Coke and serve. Tasty enough that guests will enjoy them, and a whiskey shot everyone should know how to make because, hey, who doesn’t like Cherry Coke?
The Vegas Bomb is one of those shots to make when people look like they need something to do. Pour 1/2 oz. each of Crown Royal and DeKuyper butterscotch liqueur in a shot glass. Fill a second glass with Red Bull until it is deeper than the shot glass is tall. Drop the shot glass into the Red Bull and slam the lot. Then get ready to dance. Or talk way too much.
A popular whiskey shot, the Alabama Slammer is a whiskey shot everyone should know how to make just so they can make their friends try and say “Alabama Slammer” really fast after they get drunk. Pour equal parts Jack Daniel’s, amaretto almond liqueur, orange juice and creme de novaux into a shaker of ice, shake a few times and strain into shot glasses.
Like whiskey, apples are delicious and popular everywhere. A McIntosh apple requires 1 oz. Crown Royal, 1 oz. DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker, a splash of 7-Up and a splash of cranberry juice poured into an iced shaker and strained into a shot glass. Tamer than most drinks, any man that wants to impress a woman with his bartending skills and give her something she might enjoy the taste of should know how to make a McIntosh Apple.
