The weather is finally a little warmer and your wardrobe is finally a little lighter. But it’s not quite summertime (for some of us) so you can’t necessarily get away without a jacket.
We just checked and the best outerwear you have for this time of year is an ancient denim jacket you rocked in the ’90s, but the arms are a tad too short for you these days, big guy. You could rock a leather jacket, but it’s just so dark for this time of year. Spring is for soft colors and lightweight fabrics.
So we’ve rounded up a few female faves to help you out. Now jacket up.
Rebound (Nau, $295)
This lightweight rain jacket is composed of recycled ripstop, a waterproof and breathable membrane and fully taped seams to repel water on the outside and transfer moisture away from you on the inside—so you won’t get the wet dog smell no woman enjoys.
Alwyn (Mackage, $390)
This double-breasted trenchcoat is a tailored classic with a modern touch: a genuine leather undercollar and piping around the front pockets. And it’s wrinkle-resistant. Because no woman wants to go out with a wrinkly mess of a man.
Ask Canvas Duffel Coat (Helly Hansen, $650)
This one-of-a-kind coat reflects the brand’s Scandinavian heritage, and, of course, it’s waterproof. It has to be when you’re out on the yacht all day—or at least looking like it. The buckles are a tribute to the modern racing yacht. We’re talking Italian dynema rope and an anodized aluminum pin as found in a “soft shackle” used in high-performance sail rigs. So she’ll think you’re far fancier than you really are.
Räven Jacket (Fjallräven, $250)
This timeless jacket, made from G-1000 Eco in recycled polyester and organic cotton, has a tailored wind- and water-resistant design, and you can apply Greenland Wax to adapt it for different conditions. So whether you’re going hiking or to brunch, you’ll be prepared for that date.
Lowerdale Gilet Vest (Barbour, $179)
Maybe it’s too warm for sleeves but you feel naked without anything. Opt for a more versatile vest, like this one. Women will appreciate the effort you put in to pair it with the right shirt or sweater—assuming you pair it with the right shirt or sweater.
Jiano Hybrid Jacket (BOSS, $345)
Imagine an all-in-one blazer, raincoat and hoodie. That’s exactly what this handsome, unstructured piqué-textured hybrid sport coat is. It’s layered for warmth and protection when playing around in mixed conditions, yet classy enough to wear to dinner.
Cotton Bomber Jacket (Topman, $80)
You can never go wrong with a classic bomber. This one is slightly fitted through the chest and arms, offering a no-frills style that’ll take you from casual to smart. It’s a statement piece that you can keep on even for your indoor dates.
