monkey-featuredYep, you read that right: A monkey, acting alone, caused a nationwide blackout for more than three hours yesterday in Kenya. Well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle—45 million people left without electricity and internet connection because of a single chimp!

Somehow, the little guy survived the incident, and luckily is being kept out of the monkey house. He was handed over to the Kenyan Wildlife Service.

KenGen, which operates the plant, didn’t go ape and managed to stay calm, even though the little animal definitely made a monkey of them. The company restored power within a few hours and reported later that all systems were normal.

In other words, they got the monkey off their back.
