How you doing, people? Season’s greetings! Today I’m going to talk December football and some basic health and grooming tips.

It was a tough, tough loss on Sunday after we’d worked hard to win four straight, but a lot of people would love to be in our situation with still a shot at the playoffs. As tough a loss as that Dallas game was—20-19 on a last-second field goal—we have to move on. With a game on Thursday, we’ve got no time to look back.

This month separates the men from the boys, the contenders from the pretenders. Everybody’s body is beat up, you’ve just got to suck it up.

December football is crunch time, and it’s about who’s playing best right now, not how you started. Our coach Marvin Lewis says we’ve just got to win these last three games. This month separates the men from the boys, the contenders from the pretenders. Everybody’s body is beat up, you’ve just got to suck it up.

We get back out there on Thursday against Philadelphia, and we’ll need to play more effectively in the red zone—and continue to strive for consistency in all phases of our game. After we battle in Philly, we’ve got another road game at Pittsburgh. You tend to be more focused on the road: you arrive together the day before the game, you’re on somebody else’s turf, you don’t have as much to do. In that road city, all you’ve got is your teammates.

We have another divisional game, at home against the Ravens, to close out the regular season. With our division, these rivalries have been going on for a long, long time, and it makes for really intense encounters. Early on the Bengals, Ravens and Steelers were all tied for first. Now all three of us have a shot at the playoffs. But we can control our own destiny if we win out. And that’s our goal.

Last season we were in a similar position, 7-6 with the playoffs on the line. It’s going to be a challenge, but we believe we have the team this year to come out with wins against Philadelphia and our division rivals.

If you ever have to make a catch like this, won’t you be glad you ate right?

How do you guys like shaving in winter? You won’t believe this, but I’ve been fortunate, because like my father, I don’t have much facial hair and I really don’t shave. I’ve never had a straight razor or any power razor on my skin. No nicks and cuts. I know, man, can you believe it? But I do use skin moisturizer because of harsher weather and how it can dry out your skin. As for my hair, I have a barber who comes to my house on a regular basis. I don’t use any special conditioners, I just sort of go with the flow.

As for nutrition tips, I try to stay away from fried and greasy stuff, fast foods. I eat a combination of high protein, fish and chicken, with carbs like pasta, and a lot of mixed greens, including corn. Liquid-wise, I also stay off coffee and the soda pops, and I drink a lot of water, at least a gallon a day, and a ton of Gatorade.

I have a message for Who Dey nation and other football fans during this holiday season. Just be careful out there, there’s a lot of stuff happening, a lot of people on the roads, tricky winter weather and conditions. So take care. And definitely no drinking and driving.
