In 2005, the NFL’S Mild Traumatic Brain Injury committee published a paper on concussions during games and concluded: “Players who are concussed and return to the same game have fewer initial signs and symptoms than those removed from play.”  (Yes, this implies going back in the game is not just as safe, but somehow safer than staying on the sideline.) To demonstrate why this was insane, this GIF shows what actually happens inside your head.
