A big gorilla has just jumped in the pool, and it’s threatening to swamp the many other tablets that have been bobbing in the wake of the Apple iPad 2. The Android 3.1-driven Archos 80 G9 (pictured, 8-inch 1024×768 display) and 101 tablets (10.1-inch 1280×800 display) sport a blazing OMAP4 dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, 1080p HDMI video playback, removable 3G option and 250GB of internal storage via Seagate’s Momentus hard drive, which is phenomenally big and small at the same time. Introduced this week, both are due out in September. The Archos 80 retails for a killer $279; the 101 for $349.
