32-year-old Erin Burnett is the fresh new face over at CNBC. She lives the life of the ultimate biz babe, reporting on all the latest market changes and doesn’t let up when her Squawk on the Street co-anchor Mark Haines starts getting grumpy. That guy needs some more fiber in his diet.
Of course, Erin has gained plenty of fans because of her good looks, but she also has the business chops to back it all up. Burnett grew up in a small down on the eastern shore of Maryland, and later attended Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. She graduated with a degree in Political Economy and also kicked a lot of ass while playing for the varsity field hockey and lacrosse teams. I thought all those girls were real butch? (more pictures and video after the jump)
After college, Erin became an analyst with Goldman Sachs in the mergers and acquisitions department. Later she was offered a position with CNN as a writer and then on to Citigroup where she headed up their online financial news network. Citigroup was where she really got noticed and landed a cushy job as an anchor with the Bloomberg News network. From there it was just a matter of time before she became queen bee over at CNBC. Since 2005 she’s been the host of Squawk on the Street and Street Signs, with Squawk’s ratings going up 142% since she took over.
In spite of Erin’s popularity, she is still not immune to criticism and controversy. She ruffled some serious feathers last November when she appeared to call President Bush ‘a monkey’. She later apologized for her comments. Check out all the fallout and videos here.
But where would we be without a little controversy in our business news? Burnett has always made a big push for pressing worldwide economic reports. Recently, her trip to India and economic report on the country covering everything from the call-center to the cricket businesses has received plenty of critical acclaim. This comes as no surprise to any of Men’s Health magazine’s subscribers. The magazine ran an interview with Erin in which she not so discreetly explained the way to her heart was through a purchased vacation. She’s a class act.
With other Biz Babes like Fox Business’ Jenna Lee and CNET’s Natali Del Conte closing in on her territory, how much longer will Erin hold onto the #1 Biz Babe crown? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
But now, without further ado, may I now introduce you to the Erin Burnett all time greatest hits video collection. Enjoy!
1.) The mouth on this girl! Disgraceful.
2.) Jim Cramer takes a good closeup look at Erin’s assets. He plays this one off so smooth.
3.) Continuing with the trend of older TV personalities hitting on Erin, Chris Matthews registers off the chart with very high creepiness levels when talking to Erin on his show ‘Hardball’. Maybe it’s more than just his balls that are hard?
