Alcohol, like all things that are pleasurable to consume, contains a lot of calories. While you may not notice it in the midst of a night out, the calories in alcohol slowly add up, eventually contributing to a less-than-desired expansion of your waistline. If you want to be savvier about the calories in whiskey, the calories in wine, the calories in beer, aw hell, the calories in liquor and booze in general, take a look at this chart. Using information compiled by Ryan Hunter of “Get Drunk, Not Fat,” it compares the calories in various alcoholic beverages to their alcohol content. The idea is to get drunk while consuming the fewest calories possible. Got it? Get started. And for more, head over to GetDrunkNotFat.com.

Excellent! I wish all my clients would read this! I’m a fitness trainer, and so many of my client drink a pound a week in alcohol.

You have to kidding me, you guys must not be able to do simple math. Half of this is total bs. Just look at your example of rum and rum and coke mix. The rum is 35% and 800 or so calories, but the mix is 14% and 150 or so calories…. really?

Steve, though I haven’t searched extensively, I don’t see that up there. I do see the Rum and Diet Coke mixture that’s 8% and 172 calories. What you’d have to remember there is that it’s 12 oz. of mix (calorie free soda + ~2.5 oz rum) vs. 12 oz of pure alcohol.

What I don’t understand are the numbers for the Bacardi 151. If the math is cal/alc% … that would put Bacardi 151 at the top of the list at around 10 cal/alc ratio. What gives?
