Alyson Michalka

Alyson Michalka was born in Torrance, California on March 25, 1989. Alyson and her sister, Amanda (who is two years younger), lived and grew up in Seattle, Washington. Michalka has been playing the piano since she was six and started playing the guitar at the age of thirteen. She started acting when she was five years old, mostly in church play productions. She was raised in Christianity and continues to practice the religion. She loves to sing and has albums out with her sister.

Michalka's acting debut came when she was cast in the role of Keely Teslow on the Disney Channel Original Series, Phil of the Future. She has also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movies Now You See It..., in which she plays "Allyson Miller", an ambitious television producer, and Cow Belles, in which she appears opposite her sister. She announced via her MySpace that she had booked a leading role in the Walden Media film, "Rock On" a film about a group of misfits who form a rock band. She will be co-starring with Vanessa Hudgens.

Michalka and her sister comprise the musical duo Aly & AJ, and released their first album, Into the Rush, in August 16, 2005. In 2007, their new album, Insomniatic, hit stores, with their chart-topping song, "Potential Breakup Song".

Her favorite foods are Sushi, Tacos, Candy (especially Ring Pops and Pop Rocks), Pasta, and Jamba Juice drinks.

Her favorite movies are Willow (1988), Uptown Girls (2003), Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), and The School of Rock (2003).

Younger sister Amanda Michalka, known as AJ, is also an actress. The two sisters wrote and recorded their first album for Hollywood/Universal Records as Aly & AJ, which was released in early 2005. They now record and perform under the band name 78violet.

Her mother was a cheerleader for the NFL's Oakland Raiders.

Her parents are Carrie and Mark Michalka.
