Introduction
A former child star who had her own TV show at 13, Amanda Bynes now possesses the Girl-Next-Door cuteness and comedic skills to make us feel good on a number of different levels.
Life Story
Born and raised in the Los Angeles suburb Thousand Oaks, California, Amanda displayed a natural gift for acting, particularly comedic acting, and by age 7 she had booked her first commercial, for Buncha Crunch candies. After a few more acting classes, some of which were taught by Arsenio Hall and Richard Pryor, Amanda shined as a cast member on Nickelodeon’s Figure It Out and All That, and at age 13 she was given her own Nickelodeon sketch show, "The Amanda Show." In 2002, she teamed with Frankie Muniz and Paul Giamatti to make her film debut in the mildly successful Big Fat Liar (Amanda Detmer, Sandra Oh), and a year later she racked up the Kids Choice Awards for her starring role in the fun-with-Brits comedy What a Girl Wants (Kelly Preston). Amanda then headed back to the small screen to play Jennie Garth’s younger sister in 71 episodes of the on-TV-a-lot-longer-than-you-thought sitcom "What I Like About You" (Leslie Grossman, Allison Munn). More recently, she’s had major roles in the musical Hairspray (Michelle Pfeiffer, Brittany Snow) and the Snow White reimagining Sydney White (Sara Paxton, Crystal Hunt, Libby Mintz).
In the future, Amanda will be devoting time to her recently launched fashion line, “Dear,” and to finding more mature roles in more mature movies, now that she’s all grown up. To be treated like an adult—that’s what this girl wants.
Amanda was most recently seen in the Lifetime original movie Living Proof (2008) which premiered on October 18, 2008. Lifetime movies Amanda??? Has your star fallen that far already?
