'Too hot to handle and too cold to hold' is how Amy Poehler was described by Taste of Home, a southern recipe magazine. She's also damn funny.
Amy Poehler was born in Burlington, Massachusetts, the daughter of a man and a woman. She graduated from Boston College, where she was a key member of America's oldest collegiate improv comedy troupe, 'My Mother's Fleabag'. Interestingly, the group is named after someone else's mother's fleabag, not hers.
On "Saturday Night Live", Amy parodies stars such as Sharon Osbourne, Paula Abdul, Kelly Ripa, Madonna, Avril Lavigne, Sharon Stone, Nancy Grace and Michael Jackson. You know, the smart ones in our society. Beginning with the 2004-05 season, she co-anchored "Weekend Update" with Tina Fey, replacing the lesser talented Jimmy Fallon. In a TV Guide interview, Tina Fey said that with Poehler co-anchoring, there now is "double the sexual tension". The collective applause from men caused several earthquakes across the globe. Amy has said that she is leaving at the end of the "SNL" 2007-08 season to focus on being hot and funny at the same time.
In 2008, she was nominated for an Emmy in Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Saturday Night Live.
Amy has appeared in films such as the deliciously titled Wet Hot American Summer, Mean Girls (where she got a contact buzz from Lindsay Lohan and had to be rushed to the hospital), Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny, Mr. Woodcock and Blades of Glory. She has also created an animated series for Nickelodeon called "Mighty B", scheduled to premiere in 2008 about a 'sweet, merit-badge-obsessed girl scout', to which she lends her vocal talents. Her hotness combined with Girl Scout chic is sure to send Nickelodeon's ratings through the roof.
Amy was one of the four players on Comedy Central's "Upright Citizens Brigade" and is a co-owner of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York. But all anyone cares about is that she's smoking hot.
In 2003, Amy married Will Arnett, the whispery-voiced actor from the FOX comedy "Arrested Development". Nepotism isin, as she proved when she landed a recurring role in the series as the nameless wife of Arnett's character George Oscar "G.O.B." Bluth II. The pair also played the role of a quasi-incestuous Donnie and Marie (redundant?) ice skating team in the 2007 film Blades of Glory.
