Angela Griffin

Angela Griffin (born 19 July 1976) is an English television actress.

Career

She appeared in the popular long-running British soap operas Emmerdale and most famously in Coronation Street as Fiona Middleton from 1993 to 1998. Subsequently she joined the original cast of the BBC medical drama series Holby City as Staff Nurse Jasmine Hopkins but left at the end of Series 3 in 2001 as she did not want to stick around due to a huge increase of episode numbers with the forthcoming Series. She has also appeared in the BBC dramas Cutting It and Down To Earth.

In October 2001, she presented a programme on the UK's Channel 4 on the subject of mixed race people in British society. The show included interviews with a large number of well-known members of Britain's mixed race community such as Bruce Oldfield and Hanif Kureshi, as well as political figures such as Tony Benn. A former pop star, Griffin unsuccessfully auditioned for both Atomic Kitten and Precious.

Recently from 2006 to 2007 she appeared as Kim Campbell, a teacher alongside former Cutting It co-star Jason Merrells in the BBC school drama series Waterloo Road. She took a break during the third series in late 2007/early 2008, but returned to the role for the fourth series in 2009. Angela also provides the voice of Amy, the vet in children's television show Postman Pat.

On 27 March 2007, Griffin appeared on the daytime cooking show Daily Cooks Challenge, in which she revealed among some of her favourite dishes were banana fritters, and lobster noodles, a dish she can make herself.

In March 2008, Griffin appeared on the weeklong daytime reality show Murder Most Famous, where herself and five other celebrities begin to write a crime novel, coached by crime writer Minette Walters, the end prize being, having winning celebrities' work of fiction published. It was won by actress Sherrie Hewson.

Griffin was born in Leeds. On 27 July 2006 she married her boyfriend Jason Milligan (stepbrother of Max Beesley). Daughter Tallulah Jae was born on 14 June 2004. Angela gave birth to another daughter on 27th June 2007 called Melissa.

Angela is celebrity patron for the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths' Save a Baby Month, May 2008. The campaign highlights the importance of further research into sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), also known as cot death, and asks people to get involved in a Mile in Memory,raising money to help research into the causes of cot death and support bereaved parents. Angela appeared on Family Fortunes on 10 November 2007, and won £30,000 for the charity.
