Smith was born as Vicki Lynn Hogan in Houston in 1967 to a 16 year old mother. At age 14, Smith moved to the small town of Mexia, Texas. After failing her Freshman year of high school, Smith dropped out of school and started working as a waitress at Jim's Fried Chicken. It was there that Smith met her first love, Billy Wayne Smith, a cook at the restaruant. In 1985, at the age of 17, Smith married the 16 year old Smith. In 1986 the couple had a child, Daniel. In 1987 the two separated and Smith moved to Houston where, in 1991, she began to work at a strip club called GiGi's. 1991 would prove to be a good year for Smith. In October of that year she would audition for Playboy magazine and by March 1992, she'd be on the cover. She also met elderly billionaire J. Howard Marshall, who she'd marry four years later, in 1991.

After the Playboy cover, Smith's career was launched. She was named the 1993 Playmate of the Year and took over the lucrative Guess? Jeans ad campaign from [Claudia Schiffer]. In 1994 Smith got into the acting game, appearing in The Hudsucker Proxy and Naked Gun 33 and 1/3. In June of that year, Smith married the 89 year old J. Howard Marshall. About a year later, death called the old man home. A twelve year legal battle would ensue over his fortune, half of which he allegedly promised to Smith.

With all the legal cases and emotional trauma related to her husband's death, Smith's career took a hard hit for the rest of the 90's. In 2002 an enlarged Smith debuted a reality show, The Anna Nicole Show, on the E! Network. The show followed the daily eccentricities of the former Playmate's life. In 2003 Smith began endorsing TrimSpa, a weight loss pill that contributed to her miraculous 70 pound shedding of weight. In 2004 Smith cancelled her show on E!.

In 2006 Smith and her long-time lawyer, Howard K. Stern, along with her son moved to the Bahamas. Their time there would prove to be tragic. In June Smith announced her pregnancy, and in early September gave birth to a daughter named Dannilynn. Later that month Smith's 20 year old son mysteriously died in Anna Nicole's room. It would be discovered later that methadone was found in his body. In an effor to quell their troubles, Smith and Stern had an unofficial marriage ceremony several day's after the death of her son.

On February 8, 2007 Smith was found unresponsive by her bodyguard in her Hollywood, Florida Hotel room. She was pronounced dead at 2:49pm. After her death, legal battles over her will, the paternity of her daughter, and her final resting place ensued.
