Anna Ortiz Life Story
Actress Ana Ortiz is best known as the attractive, tight-clothes wearing older sister of Ugly Betty (Vanessa Williams, America Ferrera, Selma Hayek). And while it may be easy to look attractive next to Betty, Ortiz's character's feisty attitude and funny interaction with the rest of family make her more than just a pretty face.
Ortiz is the daughter of Philadelphia's first Puerto Rican city Councilman Angel Ortiz. Growing up, she always wanted to perform and attended the well-known La Guardia High School of Performing Arts, aka the school from Fame. At school, she studied singing and music. She also attended the University of Arts in Philadelphia.
Her first acting roles were in local theater productions and a few traveling theater groups. She also performed in off-Broadway shows such as "In Arabia We'd Be Kings", which was directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Her first TV appearance was on Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman with Jane Seymour. She also had guest starring roles on NYPD Blue and in the film Tortilla Heaven with George Lopez.
