Ohio Championship Wrestling

Lane first got her start in professional wrestling shortly after graduating from Ridgewood High School in West Lafayette, Ohio. She saw a poster for a local indy promotion, contacted the promoter and began training a short time later under the name Lexi Lane. [1] After completing her training under Jeff Cannon, she started her wrestling career in the state of Ohio.

On October 14, 2006, Lane competed in the fifth annual WXW Elite 8, an all-women's tournament, where she lost in the first round to Faith.

On March 10, 2007, Lane became the first ever OCW Women's Champion by winning a tournament at the first annual Ladies' Night. She defeated Sassy Stephie, Hailey Hatred and ODB en route to her championship victory.[2] She would hold the title until November, when she lost it to Nevaeh. She regained the title on May 10, 2008, and lost it to Sara Del Rey on February 7, 2009.

On March 22, 2008, Lane competed in the second annual Ladies' Night tournament for OCW. She was eliminated in the first round in a match that also included Sassy Stephie and Lorelei Lee, and the eventual winner Allison Danger. Later in the night, she beat Jessicka Havok in singles action.

SHIMMER Women Atheletes

On October 13, 2007, she made her debut in SHIMMER Women Athletes as Ashley Lane in Berwyn, Illinois. On the taping of Volume 15 of their DVD series, she teamed with Lorelei Lee in a losing effort to Portia Perez and Nicole Matthews. Later that night on Volume 16, she also lost to Alexa Thatcher.

On April 26, 2008, Lane began teaming with Nevaeh, her frequent tag team in promotions such as OCW and IPW and fellow Midwest standout. They made their team debut in losing to The Experience (Lexie Fyfe and Malia Hosaka) on the Volume 17 taping, then scoring a upset win against the Minnesota Homewrecking Crew (Lacey and Rain) on Volume 18. On July 5, 2008, they beat the duo of Veronika Vice and Cat Power on the Volume 19 taping, and then lost to The International Home Wrecking Crew (Rain and Jetta) in their Volume 20 match.

On October 19, 2008, Lane and Nevaeh scored their biggest and most high-profile tag team victory when they emerged victorious from a six-team Tag Team Gauntlet Match to crown the first Shimmer Tag Team Champions. The entered fourth, eliminating The International Home Wrecking Crew and then lastly The Experience. Later in the evening, they successfully defended the belts against The Canadian NINJAS (Portia Perez and Nicole Matthews).

On April 19, 2008, Lane appeared in SHIMMER's sister promotion Ring of Honor, competing in a Four Corner Survival match against Daizee Haze, Lacey and MsChif. Lane made a second appearance at Southern Hostility on December 6, replacing SHIMMER Champion MsChif in a match against Daizee Haze, Sara Del Rey and Serena Deeb.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling

Lane debuted in TNA under the ring name Madison Rayne on the January 8, 2009 edition of TNA Impact!, where she was defeated by Awesome Kong.
