Bérénice Bejo

Bérénice Bejo is a French actress, known for her role of Christiana in the 2001 film, A Knight's Tale, and for the 2011 film The Artist.

Berenice was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is daughter of the Argentine filmmaker Miguel Bejo. At age 3, she moved to France where she started her acting career. In 2001, she entered America's big screen by performing in A Knight's Tale, and in 2002's 24 Hours in the Life of a Woman. She is set to star in the French psychological thriller Proie.

Berenice has supported Lionel Jospin's 2002 presidential campaign. Her husband is director Michel Hazanavicius; they have two children.

In The Artist, the 2011 film directed by her husband, Berenice plays Peppy Miller, a 1920s movie actress. This performance has garnered her critical acclaim and several award nominations.

Latina.com and the LA Times have both predicted that Berenice will be nominated for an Academy Award.On December 14th, it was announced that Berenice had been nominated by the Screen Actors Guild for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her performance as Peppy in The Artist.

On the 15th of December 2011, the HFCA nominated Bejo for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture award. On December 16th Berenice made her American television debut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
