Caterina Valente

Caterina Valente who was born on 14th January 1931 in Paris, France is a singer born into an Italian artist family when her father was a well known accordion player and her mother a musical clown. In 1952 she married juggler Erik Van Aro after he recognized her talent and accompanied her in her years of success and they later got divorced. In 1953 she made her first recordings with Kurt Edelhagen but soon afterwards she had big hit singles such as The Breeze and I. In 1955 she appeared in the Colgate Comedy Hour with Gordon McRae. And then she appeared as a frequent guest on the Dean Martin Show between 1966 and 1972. Also that same year she married the British pianist Roy Budd and they had a son named Alexander before they divorced in 1979. She also plays the guitar and released her last album in 2001 named GirlTalk with harpist Catherine Michel.
