She was born on December 9, 1990 in Stolberg (Rhineland), Germany. She is the youngest child of Bernhard and Keriakoulla (Koulla) Klein. Her mother, Keriakoula, is of Greek origins. She and her older brother, Andreas, were raised in Stolberg, where their parents ran a Greek restaurant. LaFee was discovered at the age of 13 by music producer Bob Arnz while performing a spoof of the song Mandy, "Handy" (German for mobile phone) at a children's televised singing contest.
