Introduction
When it comes to models, most picture the tall, willowy, and very thin supermodels that have dominated the scene for years. However, Dania Denise is quickly starting to show the public that when it comes to the modeling industry, good things really do come in small packages.

Personal Biography

Dania Denise was born on the now closed Subic Bay Naval Base in the Philippines on February 4, 1983. Her father is African American and her mother is Filipino. After spending her early years in the Philippines, Dania and her parents came to the US and has been a California girl ever since.

Being an only child, Dania was a creative child and quickly found art to be her calling. In school she excelled in her studies and was a frequent honor roll student. In middle school Dania became President of the National Honor Society. During her high school years, she went on to become involved in the school newspaper as a reporter, editor, and comic strip artist, as well as being a member of various clubs.

At the tender age of 15, Dania received a flyer in the mail for an open casting call in San Francisco. With her parents in tow, she submitted a snapshot, got a callback a few days later and signed with her first agency. Shortly afterwards, Dania began booking print work and local TV commercials. Eventually, Dania switched to a larger agency and continued with her modeling career.

Professional Career

The public first became aware of Dania Denise when she appeared as JET Magazine's "Beauty of the Week." Soon after, Dania was on the road and found herself on the red carpet interviewing A-list celebrities at the 2004 & 2005 BET Awards Show in Los Angeles.

Shortly after these successes, she took time out to focus on her studies and graduated from San Francisco State University in 2005 with a 4.0 GPA and a B.A. in Radio/TV with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Journalism.

With college out of the way, Dania quickly began to expand her modeling career and eventually started her own blog to educate young, aspiring models about the industry and provide real-life experiences from a working and agency-represented model. Within a few months, her blog (A Models Diary) received tons of hits a day and many turned to Dania for an insider's view of the modeling industry.

Not Your Average Model

Dania Denise is as hands-on as a model can get. Not only does she feel at home in front of the camera, she has also studied photography techniques, lighting, equipment, and retouches her own photos. She works hard to build herself as a brand and is never just content with sitting idly by while other people do things for her. Those who have worked with Dania Denise know her reputation for being dependable, hard working, professional, fun, and easy to work with. She believes in totally living and breathing her craft.

Controversy

At first glance, not many would believe that someone who is 5'5" could actually be a model (and a successful one at that!) but Dania Denise has sought to prove otherwise. Concerned about the growing insecurities young girls and guys face when it comes to body image and "measuring up" to their modeling dreams, Dania has made it a point to encourage anyone passionate enough about the industry to follow their dreams.

While critics and others in the industry have accused her of promising false hope, she feels the exact opposite. When asked about the subject, Dania responded: "I don't feel it's anyone's right to tell someone what they can or cannot do. I don't feel like I'm giving anyone false hope. What I do is provide them with information they need in order to pursue their dreams. Even if they fail, at least they will have walked away knowing they tried--and that's what matters. They're not hurting anybody and if it weren't for the many model hopefuls out there, the modeling industry would not be as popular as it is. In the end, they will find out if this is meant for them or not. I am strongly against discouraging others before they've even tried. That's simply not fair."
