Edyta Sliwinska Life Story

Sliwinska was born to working class parents in Poland. At the age of 11 she claims she was inspired by music and decided to take dancing lessons in Warsaw, Poland. By 2001 she was a pro on the dance circuit. In 2001, along with partner Alex Mazo, Sliwinska won the International Grand Ball competition in San Francisco and the Holiday Ball in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the entire nation of Poland was mourning the fact she'd probably never come home again.

In 2004 ABC came up with what sounded like one of the most ridiculous celebrity reality series yet: Dancing With the Stars. The premise of the show was to have sort-of-celebrities paired up with ball-room dancers in ball-room dancing competition. In the first season, Sliwinksa was paired with Evander Holyfield and they finished in 5th place. The show turned out to be a hit, thanks in large part to the eye candy that Sliwinska and her other professional dancer counterparts provided. Sliwinska is the only dancer to have been featured on all five seasons of the show. Her other partners have included Joey Lawrence, George Burns, John Ratzenberger, and Cameron Mathison. Though she has the most experience of any dancer on the show, Sliwinska and her partners have finished in fifth place three times, third place once, and sixth place once, which is sad because she raises the average hotness of the females on the show by a large amount (sorry Marie Osmond).

In September of 2007, Sliwinska married her dance partner of six years and DWTS co-star, Alex Mazo.
