Elizabeth Hurley Introduction
To some, she is merely the woman who forgave Hugh Grant for cheating on her with a prostitute. To us, she is the extremely attractive woman who did that.
Elizabeth Hurley Life Story
Born to a schoolteacher and an army major, Elizabeth won a local “Face of the Year” competition as a teenager, securing a year’s modeling contract with a topnotch London agency—to which some of her snottier friends said, “Ooh, London modeling agency, well, aren’t you so important??” From there, she shuttled back and forth between modeling and acting, playing the title character in a four-part TV drama, Christabel, and a fetching stewardess in the Wesley Snipes thriller at 30,000 feet, Passenger 57.
In 1987, on the set of a Spanish movie called Remando al Viento, Elizabeth met Hugh Grant, and the two embarked on a long-term relationship filled with paleness, quick wit and liberal usage of the word “actually.” At the premiere of Hugh’s 1994 box-office smash-hit Four Weddings and a Funeral, Elizabeth wore a black Versace dress held together with gold safety pins, and half the world wished that Versace had used unsafe safety pins. A year later, Elizabeth was thrust into a highly publicized scandal after Hugh was arrested in Los Angeles with the not-so-devine prostitute Divine Brown. Although Elizabeth stood by her man, appearing with him soon after the incident at the premiere for Nine Months, the two split in 2000.
Having breathed new life into her acting career with her portrayal of Vanessa Kensington in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (Fabiana Udenio, Joann Richter) and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (Heather Graham, Gia Carides), Elizabeth’s film has dropped off considerably in the last few years. Then again, after something like Bedazzled (Frances O’Connor), you’ve pretty much maxed out.
Looking ahead, Elizabeth will be cuddling up with Indian businessman Arun Nayar, whom she married in March 2007. The service was attended by Elton John, Elle Macpherson, Eva Herzigova, Donatella Versace…and not Divine Brown.
