Biography

Ellen Page is a Canadian actress best known for her work in independent films.

When Page lived in New York for a short while, her friends named her the Tiny Canadian. She calls herself a shrimp and because of her small frame, she is able to play younger roles.

Ellen began acting at the age of 10 in her native Canada. While she bounced from high school to high school, she worked consistently in television and independent films. Her senior year she filmed indie flicks "Mouth to Mouth" and "Hard Candy", in which her portrayal of a teenage victim of a sexual predator garned her much praise and the attention of Hollywood casting directors.

Ellen scored the part of Kitty Pryde in the final installment of the X-Men series.

Following "X-Men: The Last Stand", she returned to her indie roots and was the title character in the comedy "Juno", a movie that earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. In the movie she plays a pregnant teenager with a quick wit and unique outlook on her situation.

Ellen has also appeared in "Smart People" with Sarah Jessica Parker, "An American Crime" with Catherine Keener and will be seen in three movies in 2009 - "Peacock" with Cillian Murphy, "Whip It" with Drew Barrymore and a British production of "Jane Eyre".

Ellen lives with roommates in her hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
