Emmy Rossum Introduction

Known until recently for her good girl roles in the movies, Emmy Rossum's life imitates art. Unlike her contemporaries, she's managed to stay out of the paparazzi's eyes and out of rehab while starring in movies. But Emmy warmed the hearts, and other organs, of nudity fans by taking a lead role in the American remake of Shameless, which began airing on Showtime in 2011.

Emmy Rossum Life Story

Rossum was born in Manhattan in 1986 to a photographer mother and a banker father. At the age of seven it was discovered that the young Rossum had perfect intonation and after singing the seminal Happy Birthday in twelve keys at an audition for the Metropolitan Opera Children's chorus, she was on her way to stardom. As a child, she appeared in 20 different operas singing in five languages. Meanwhile Lindsay Lohan was probably dancing on the tables at some tea party while drinking way to much Mountain Dew. In 1997, she first hit the TV with a guest spot on Law and Order. By 1999 she had a recurring role on As the World Turns.

In 2000, Rossum made her bigscreen breakthrough in the film Songcatcher in which she played an Appalachian orphan. She won several awards for her portrayal and got to sing a song with Dolly Parton for the soundtrack. Yes, life was good for Emmy Rossum. By 2003 Rossum had a role in Clint Eastwood's modern classic Mystic River. Following Mystic River she went on to star in disaster flick, The Day After Tomorrow. In 2004 she starred in the film version of The Phantom of the Opera. Her biggest role to date, however, would be in the 2006 big budget shipwreck movie Posiedon. In it she played Kurt Russell's daughter and (spoiler warning!) was one of the few characters to survive in the end.

Off the screen, Rossum has a nice little singing career going on. She released her first album, Inside Out in 2007. She has dated David Wildenstein, who comes from a French billionaire art dealing family, as well as Topher Grace and Chris Evans.

In the Summer of 2008, she became the official spokesperson for PiNKiTUDE.

In 2011, Emmy took the role of eldest daughter Fiona in the American remake of Shameless. The good news is that this is on Showtime, giving Rossum the opportunity to prove she really is shameless, at least when it comes to baring her pretty titties and sweet ass.

Emmy made the Maxim Hot 100 List in 2012, coming in at number 49.
