Esther Anderson

Born on 13 June 1979, Esther grew up in Geelong, Victoria, and knew from an early age that she wanted to be a performer.

Not unused to being in the public eye, Esther previously worked as a model and, based in Japan for six years, travelled between Tokyo, Hong Kong and Europe for work. During this time she dreamed of a career on the silver screen; she eventually decided to make this a reality by moving back to Melbourne to take acting classes.

After a year with the local Victorian travel show Postcards, Esther had the chance to audition for Home and Away, and before she knew it had landed the part of ambitious copper Charlie Buckton: there was a gap of only four days between her finding out that she had the role and starting filming in Sydney. ‘I have always wanted to be part of the show, and when I found out I had the role I was in complete shock,’ Esther says. ‘I’m still pinching myself now, but it feels right.’

When she’s not busy filming, Esther loves the great outdoors; her ideal evening is a night out with great food, wine and company. A movie lover, she counts Natalie Portman, Toni Collette, Joaquin Phoenix and George Clooney among her favourite actors.
