Evanna was chosen for the role of Luna Lovegood over 15,000 other girls. Once she was announced as being cast the role of Luna Lovegood, Evanna was escorted around her school grounds by two security guards.
As a Harry Potter fanatic she dreamed of playing the role of Luna. She and her friends even made a recording of her acting out the part and sent it to Warner Brothers but without any success.
When Evanna Lynch was younger she once wrote a letter to J.K. Rowling regarding her low hopes of being cast as Luna in the films because she is from Termonfeckin. Jo's response read "Don't be too hard on Termonfeckin; it does have a brilliant name". Jo is aware and "quite amazed" at the excellent coincidence.
Evanna has read each of the Harry Potter books 6 or 7 times. On the Order of the Phoenix book release day unfortunately Evanna was in hospital, her parents managed to get permission to take her out so she could queue up for her copy of the book. Evanna has a signed copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix from J.K. Rowling.
Evanna is a vegetarian and an animal lover.
She has a pet cat called Luna who has had kittens, one whom she has named Dumbledore. She used to have a cat called Crookshanks, but unfortunately he is now dead. Evanna says of her cats, "They're nice but they're not like their characters." Evanna's bedroom is orange and has quotes from the books written in turquoise.
Evanna has in fact visited fansites about herself, though stopped shortly after due to negative comments.
Her father accompanied her on the trip to England for the tryouts.
Evanna was asked to do a screen test just a few short weeks after being asked to come back again after the tryouts. She receieved a call three days after doing a screen test, saying she had gotten the part of Luna.
Evanna enjoys talking to the other cast members while off the set, and says that she no longer feels so nervous.
After being introduced to Luna's character, Evanna was positive that she[Luna] was the perfect character for her.
She enjoys films directed by Tim Burton.
She makes beaded jewelry and made the radish earrings to be used in The Order of the Phoenix herself.
