She has modeled in magazines and films. Initially known as a net idol, she is now known for modeling both costumes she has made and costumes she bought from costume commissioners. She entered the cosplay scene in October 1998 with her first costume, Sailor Moon. Since then she has cosplayed various anime, manga and video game characters.

Francesca Dani Personal life

Francesca Dani was born in Roma, Lazio, Italy on 5 March 1979. Initially pursuing a career as a fashion designer, Francesca decided to start modeling in order to help pay for her university tuition. The modeling lifestyle tempted Francesca away from her studies, and she left the university in February 2004 in order to become an aspiring model.

Her website, launched in October 1998, turned into a pay website on 14 April 2002. The website features short videos and thousands of photographs depicting her posing in various risque outfits, from costumes to swimsuits, lingerie, and fetish outfits.

From April 2002 to September 2005 she modeled for an American paysite called Varietease, but in October 2005 she left the site for her own paysite under the domain francescadani.com. She became known in Japan during an appearance on Sekai Marumie on 25 December 2002, directed by Takeshi Kitano. NTV staff crew chose her for a special live interview because of her status as an international cosplayer.

In April 2005 she was chosen as cover girl and spokes model for Bodyline, a Japanese manufacturer of Gothic and Lolita dresses. Francesca's photos appeared on Bodyline packages.

At the end of 2005, Livedoor, an Internet service provider based in Tokyo, Japan, started selling Francesca's digital photo-books at DL-Site, a pay-per-download website.

She is known for her outrageous outfits, from cosplay to fetish modeling. She has appeared in dozens of photo-shoots in magazines around the world, most notably for Maxim (Mexico) who hailed her as "¡La cosplayer más popular en la web!"Additionally, she has made guest appearances at anime events in Central America and Japan.

Allegations exist, as reported on Anime News Network, as to whether Francesca Dani's win at the 2005 World Cosplay Summit was predetermined based in part on CURE's sponsorship of the WCS.
