Introduction

Frederique van der Wal is a Dutch supermodel, and is best known for her appearances in Sports Illustrated, Cosmopolitan, and Victoria’s Secret – two of which are publications that men amazingly still think they are reading in secret. Many consider her to be the epitome of sophistication in the modeling world, which is also used as an excuse when men are caught ogling her 8 x 10 glossies.

Life story

Frederique grew up on a farm on one of the newer polders in the Zuider-Zee. Interestingly enough, this is not a fictitious realm created by J.R.R. Tokien, but a place in Holland. She attended college in the Netherlands and earned a bachelor degree in economics, which she then put to use selling her assets. Get it? Yeah…

Frederique has appeared on many magazine covers and catalogs. She has also done runway and other fashion modeling. Frederique was hired by Victoria's Secret in the 1980s, when the company's target was only young women. The collateral damage of said strike would affect the entire male population.

Frederique has also appeared in several movies and television shows, especially on the Travel Channel. Film credits include the role of Charlize Theron’s supermodel friend in Woody Allen’s Celebrity, a studio 54 patron in 54 with Mike Myers, Neve Campbell and Salma Hayek, and Dr. Arliss Loveless’s assistant, Amazonia, in Wild Wild West. Unfortunately, the film’s giant killer robot spider would ruin every other element of the release.

Frederique also appeared on ABC's Celebrity Mole: Hawaii, in which she was actually the rogue player hired by the producers to sabotage the player's money-earning efforts. Her BA in economics was a true asset in this endeavor.

Most recently, Frederique hosted and produced Cover Shot for Discovery’s TLC, in which she assembled an expert team of make-up artists and stylists to transform an everyday woman into a cover model. Her contract excludes her from standing next to the makeover subject, so no one feels bad.
