Freema Agyeman Introduction
Actress Freema Agyeman was born in 1979 in London, England. She is of Iranian and Ghanaian decent with her mother being from Iran and her father from Ghana. After high school she studied performing arts at Middlesex University, eventually graduating in 2000. Before getting into acting Freema had worked in a Blockbuster video store.
Freema Agyeman Career
Freema made her television acting debut in 2003 on the British soap Crossroads. Over the next three years she made appearances in several television shows, including three episodes of The Bill. In 2006 Freema appeared in an episode of Doctor Who's second season. She impressed the producers enough to win the part of the Doctor's new companion, Martha Jones, for the show's third season. She returns for the show's fourth season but does not appear in all of the episodes. During this time, she also appeared in three episodes of the Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood, reprising her role as Martha Jones.
Freema made her theatrical film debut in the 2006 film Rulers and Dealers.
She was nominated for Most Popular Actress for the National Television Awards, UK, in 2007.
