Gina Ravera

Gina Ravera made her acting debut in 1990, and has since appeared in films such as Soul Food, Showgirls and The Great Debaters. She has also appeared in shows such as Time of Your Life, Silk Stalkings and ER. She is best known for her role in the TNT series The Closer, which she was part of in its first four seasons. She is also a classically trained dancer.

Her mother is African-American and her father is Puerto Rican. Was originally planning to be a lawyer. Was nominated for an ALMA Award in 1999 for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Made-for-Television Movie or Mini-Series in a Crossover Role, for The Temptations. In 2007, founded Project Reina, an organization that educates young women about HIV/AIDS prevention.
