Gwenan Edwards

Gwenan Edwards was born in Bangor, North Wales. A Welsh speaker, Gwenan moved to London, where she worked at LWT. Later she took up a trainee journalist's position with Surrey and South London Newspapers where she was sponsored to study with the National Council for the Training of Journalists. She has worked as a journalist for independent television in Cardiff and has worked as a reporter/presenter for the BBC since 1993. She spent seven years with the BBC's flagship regional news programme, Newsroom South East,before moving to present on the BBC News Channel. She has presented various travel programmes, including Gate 24 and still contributes films and reports for BBC FastTrack on BBC World Television. She has also reported for various consumer programmes, including BBC Watchdog. Gwenan is a big fan of classical music and has co-presented the Proms season live for BBC 2 from the Royal Albert Hall. She has also co-presented Cardiff Singer of the World with Huw Edwards. She plays the piano and flute - and has played the flute live on the BBC's Children in Need.

In 2006 Gwenan attended a Documentary Course at the NFTS. She has since made various short films in Slovakia, West Africa, Armenia and various part of Europe.
