Isabel Lucas is an Australian actress of Swiss descent. She’s best known for her role on the Australian soap opera, Home and Away. She also takes part in numerous charity organizations, including Greenpeace and the Global Green Plan. (She has protested whaling in Japan with Hayden Panettiere.) Isabel lives in both Australia, and Los Angeles (lucky for us US citizens)!
Isabel was born in Melbourne, Australia, but moved to Switzerland for a brief period, and then to a small mining town in Kakadu National Park (Australia). Her mother is Swiss, and her father is Australian. Due to the mixed cultures in her home, she speaks English, French, and German.
Isabel enrolled in acting class at the Victorian College of Arts, but never pursued any roles until she was spotted in a busy public market by Sharron Meissner, a Sydney theatrical agent. Sharron set Isabel up with her first audition, for a role on "Home and Away." Isabel lost the part to Amy Mizzi, but the show’s producer, Julie McGauran, was so impressed that she created a new role specifically for Isabel. Isabel became a star very quickly in Australia, winning a Logie Award (for new popular talent). She crossed over into America with a Crest Toothpaste commercial. It’s not Academy Award material, but at least she’s getting her face out there, people.
Isabel made her feature film debut alongside Shia LaBeouf in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009). She will follow that up with a new Steven Spielberg war epic mini-series "The Pacific". Her next film role will be in Daybreakers (2010), a thriller about vampires. So, it seems having clean teeth and a good international rep does pay off. She vows to continue with her charity work, continue loving animals, continue refusing to wear fur, and continue to maintain her status as “sort of a hippie.”
