Her name has become synonymous with news. However, the image of keeping the community informed of the world's happenings is merely a fraction of her true character. Atlanta native Jacque Reid grew up in a close knit family with strong values encouraging individualism and free thinking. At Clark Atlanta University these concepts were fleshed out as the Georgia peach pursued her BA in Print Journalism. By the time she earned her MA in Broadcast Journalism at Northwestern University, she was a formidable voice poised to be heard.
After years of local and network television news, Jacque decided to step out on her own creating Jacque Reid Media. Jacque Reid Media provides a number of media outlets with content. Some of her clients include "The AR Bernard Show", a Christian television news magazine show, television network TV One and nationally syndicated radio shows "The Tom Joyner Morning Show" and 'Keeping It Real with Rev. Al Sharpton.
Without question, Jacque's proudest career moment to date is launching her very own website, JacqueReid.com. JacqueReid.com is an online magazine featuring news, politics, lifestyle and entertainment. What you see on the website now is just the beginning... Phase 2 is coming soon!
Having amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience in her field with stints as an anchor and correspondent for CBS and NBC affiliates, Jacque honed her craft during her tenure at BET. She became one of the most celebrated journalist in the network's history. Jacque has interviewed luminaries such as Presidents George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Patty Labelle, Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and Beyonce. She served as co-host for TV One's 2008 Presidential election specials. And in 2004, she served as a special correspondent and commentator for CNN's Larry King Live covering the 2004 Republican National Convention.
In 2006-07 Jacque also served as a regular co-host for ABC's "The View", gracing the couch with the ladies on six different occasions. She had an opportunity to interview Ed Norton, Kerry Washington, Chris Rock, Cyndi Lauper and others.
Maintaining a strong commitment to her faith and service, Jacque is passionate about women's issues and her community. Serving as a mentor, she speaks at universities and youth events around the nation. Jacque is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn, and the New York Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she organized a panel discussion on African-Americans in theater at the historic Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Jacque has served on various boards, including Talbot's Scholarship Board, which provides funding to young women attending college and Uplift Jamaica, a non-profit organization which provides medical coverage and technology to Jamaican residents in need.
In March 2006, Jacque made her acting debut in a celebrity performance of The Vagina Monologues at The Apollo Theater featuring Kerry Washington (Ray), Alysia Reiner (Sideways) and Michelle Williams (Destiny's Child). Benefiting Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS) which empowers and provides specialized services to young women in violent or abusive situations, the show also celebrated VDay, the global grass roots movement to end violence against women and girls. Jacque also appeared as herself on the series ending episode of the series "Soulfood" on Showtime.
Jacque Reid Media is also at work behind the scenes. In 2005, the company executive produced the BET Red Carpet Special premiere presentation of the Sony Pictures feature, The Gospel. Jacque is always looking for new and groundbreaking ways to further highlight her extraordinary talents through Entertainment and Journalism. She aims to shake that comfortable notion of what a news personality does, and she's just getting started.
