Before becoming a star in Hollywood, Jada Pinkett Smith studied acting at the Baltimore School of Arts, alongside fellow student and friend Tupac Shukar. Her first major role was on the show A Different World, where she played the feisty Lena James. She also appeared on 21 Jump Street. Her first feature film was the violent and poignant gang movie Menace II Society. In 1996, she co-starred with Eddie Murphy in the blockbuster hit The Nutty Professor and in the robbery flick Set it Off with Vivica Fox.

In 1995, she met actor Will Smith. Both were just at the early stages of the career, and feel in love. The couple has been together ever since.

Jada's other film credits include Scream 2 with Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Rebecca Gayheart. She also starred in the two Matrix Sequels and lent her voice to the animated film Madagascar. Her most recent film was the Adam Sandler drama Reign Over Me which also starred Liv Tyler and Saffron Burrows. Her next film will be Women starring Meg Ryan and Eva Mendes.

Aside from acting, it may shock some fans to know that Jada also fronts the nu metal band Wicked Wisdom. The band released a self-titled album in 2006 and toured with Ozzfest.
