Jaime King Introduction
Known for a while as “the model with a man’s name”—because she was going by her childhood nickname, “James”—model-turned-actress Jaime King is actually all woman. Duh.
Jaime King Life Story
Born and raised in the suburbs of Omaha, Jaime attended modeling school (which is sort of like med school, only nothing like it) and began modeling professionally at 14, quickly moving to New York and appearing in an ad for Abercrombie & Fitch. By 16 she had modeled for Vogue, Mademoiselle (remember that?), Allure, Glamour and Harper’s Bazaar, and she had walked the runway for Chanel and Christian Dior. She had also picked up an addiction to heroin—helping popularize, along with colleague Kate Moss, the idea of “heroine chic”—and only sobered up at 19 after her boyfriend, photographer Davide Sorrenti, died of heroin-related causes.
Switching to acting, in 2001 Jaime appeared in both Blow (Penelope Cruz, Franka Potente) and Pearl Harbor (Kate Beckinsale, Jennifer Garner), and in the last several years, Jaime has been busy with work in music videos (for Gavin Degraw’s “Chariot,” Filter’s “Take a Picture” and Incubus’s “Wish You Were Here”), TV shows (Kitchen Confidential, where she met and dated poonhound Bradley Cooper) and movies like Sin City (Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy) and Two for the Money (Rene Russo, Carly Pope).
Looking ahead, Jaime’s best film work is most likely still in front of her, with flicks The Pardon, Fanboys (Kristen Bell), A Fork in the Road, Sin City 2 (Jessica Alba, Rachel Weisz) and Frank Miller’s The Spirit all due out in the next couple of years. That last one, The Spirit, will also star Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Paz Vega and Sarah Paulson. We’re heading to Fandango right now.
