Jane Curtin

Jane Curtin (born September 6, 1947) is an American actress and comedienne. She is commonly referred to as Queen of the Deadpan. She is perphaps best known for her work on NBC-TV's Saturday Night Live in 1975, as well as the hit CBS-TV sitcom series Kate & Allie , with Susan Saint James, and the hit NBC-TV sitcom 3rd Rock From The Sun opposite John Lithgow.

Career

First coming to prominence as an original cast member on NBC-TV's Saturday Night Live in 1975, she went on to win back-to-back Emmy Awards for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series on the 1980s CBS-TV sitcom Kate & Allie portraying the role of Allison "Allie" Lowell opposite Susan Saint James; the series would run for six seasons (1984–89).

Jane would later return to prime-time TV in 1996, appearing as as a supporting cast member in the NBC-TV series 3rd Rock from the Sun portraying the role of Dr. Mary Albright. She recreated her SNL character for the film The Coneheads and more recently appeared in The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines.

Married to producer Patrick Lynch (who serves as co-producer of PBS's American Playhouse) since 1975, they have an adult daugther, writer Tess Lynch.
