Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama Jasika studied theatre, dance, voice, and studio art at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina before moving to New York City to pursue a career in acting. She appeared in several regional productions and moved on to off-Broadway plays before making her TV premiere in 2005 on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. She made her film debut in the movie "Take the Lead". She is also an illustrator and has created an autobiographical online comic called "High Yella Magic".
In the fall of 2008 she landed a part on the FOX television show "Fringe" as the FBI lab assistant to the mad scientist co-starring in the show.
