Jill Goodacre Career

In 1982 Roy Raymond sold his lingerie stores he called Victoria's Secret to The Limited Corporation, for 4 million dollars. A few years later, the new Victoria's Secret decided to upgrade the company’s mail-order catalogs and place them in all of its retail stores. The catalog quickly became more popular with men than with women thanks to the three primary models used in those early days: Jill Goodacre, Stephanie Seymour and Frederique Van Der Wal. Before the decade was out, Jill Goodacre was the first Victoria’s Secret model to become a household name in America. She is, essentially, the Queen Mother of all Victoria’s Secret models.

Jill also appeared in numerous magazines such Cosmopolitan, Self, Harper's Bazaar, YM and Sassy during that time. In 1994 Jill married singer Harry Connick, Jr. and promptly retired from modeling. She did a few acting gigs after that including a memorable episode of “Friends” where she gets stuck in an ATM lobby with Chandler during a blackout. She also appeared in a few music videos for her husband and did an exercise video with Sugar Ray Leonard. But for the most part, Jill has stayed out of the public eye. She currently lives in Connecticut with Connick and their three daughters.
