Gordon was born in Mackay, Queensland. From the age of 8, her family moved to various locations down the coast from Mackay, eventually settling in Sydney when she was 11. She played netball from the age of 12 to 16.

Career At the age of 13, Gordon won a modeling competition and gained a contract with Vivien's Modeling Agency. Her modeling lead her to cities and countries such as Japan, London and Milan, where she lived for five months. Whilst modeling in London for two months she took the opportunity to travel through Europe recreationally. In 2004, whilst preparing to move to New York, Gordon successfully auditioned for the role of Martha MacKenzie in the long-running Australian soap opera Home & Away, a character which she still plays to this day and earned her a Most Popular New Female Logie award in 2006. Jodi has admitted that she has no regrets about leaving modelling behind and in 2008 she signed an extension on her contract to remain with Home & Away for another three years.

Jodi was a contestant on the eighth season of Dancing with the Stars and was eliminated in the fifth week, on 12 October 2008.

From September 2008 Jodi is the official celebrity ambassador and model for Australian lingerie brand Crystelle.

Her immediate family consist of her mother, father and older brother Ben. Her father was born in New Zealand and is of Maori descent.

On 4 March 2007 her boyfriend of two years, Chris Burkhardt passed away from acute myeloid leukemia at the age of 23. From mid 2008, Jodi will be playing her hardest storyline yet, as her character - Martha Mackenzie - is struck down with breast cancer. She has stated that she will be drawing this from her personal experience of seeing her soulmate pass away from the disease.
