Introduction
Kat Dennings may sometimes be confused with her fair-headed doppelganger Amanda Seyfried of “Big Love”. She starred in Raising Dad, alongside Bob Saget of Full Housefame and shares a birthday and birthyear with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.
Life Story
Born and raised in Philadelphia Eagle country, Kat Dennings was reared under the lyrical watch of her poet mother, Ellie Litwack. Understanding early on that poet is code for unemployed, Kat decided to choose a different path and struck out as an actress. She quickly earned a role on “Sex and the City”, prepping her for the role of a lifetime as the daughter of award season regular Bob Saget in the one-season smash “Raising Dad”. More TV roles followed, allowing her to segue to the big screen. Films such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Down in the Valley and Big Mama’s House 2 allowed Kat to master her trademark rebellious character, while also introducing her sexy Hilary Duff meets Elvira look to multiplex popcorn eaters worldwide. She's been quoted as saying, "I've had people tell me to get Mystic Tan, blonde highlights, choppy haircuts, but I've made a conscious decision not to cave." (And when they tell you to get breast reduction surgery, don't cave on that either.)
In 2006, she completed a five-episode run on long in the tooth “ER” shown on the ratings-challenged Peacock. Leaving Maura Tierney to lance TV boils on her own, Kat quickly signed on for a slew of new films, including the appropriately-titled I Know What Boys Like, which was later retitled The House Bunny (2008). When approached with the obvious follow-up inquiry of “do you know what girls want?”, Kat squashed a popular rumor linking her to seeking out the embrace of other women. Male subscribers to her popular video blog immediately started a petition begging her to reconsider. As of this writing, the result of that petition is in limbo.
Kat's latest film, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (2008), puts her front and center as the title character Norah. Front and center is where Kat will likely remain, as she'll have starring roles in the upcoming movies End Zone (2009), Shorts (2009), and Arlen Faber (2009). She is also set to star in Defendor (2009) with Woody Harrelson and Sandra Oh.
