Kat Von D

Kat Von D is an American tattoo artist and star of the show "LA Ink."

She was born Katherine von Drachenberg in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, but her family soon relocated to Colton, California. At 14, Kat tattooed an Old English J on her ankle using homemade tools and she became hooked on tattooing. At 16, she began working professionally in a local tattoo shop.

Kat eventually landed a job in a tattoo parlor in Hollywood and she fell in love with the city. But a chance to work with some accomplished artists and to be on tv had her pack up and move to Miami. Kat was featured on "Miami Ink" for two years.

Kat married tattoo artist husband Oliver Peck at a young age. The two eloped after three months together and were re-married every year until their split in April 2007.

Constant fighting between Kat and Miami Ink owner Ami James led her back to Hollywood. In 2007, she opened her own shop, High Voltage Tattoo, and filmed the first season of her own reality show, "LA Ink".

Kat was formerly dating Alex "Orbi" Orbison, a member of the rock band Whitestarr and son of Roy Orbison. She recently stated she was pregnant, but later revealed it was merely a joke.

In December 2007, Kat set the world record for most tattoos in a 24 hour period after creating 400 tattoos.

In November 2010, Kat Von D's house went up in flames, destroying everything she had including her Chinese hairless cat.
