Kellie Pickler is an American country singer who rose to fame on "American Idol".

Kellie was born to Cynthia Morton, then 18, and Clyde "Bo" Pickler, Jr., an alcoholic drug addict who was constantly in and out of trouble with the law. When Kellie was 2, her mom gave up her maternal rights and took off. Kellie has spoken extensively of the emotional stress of growing up abandoned by her mother. While in high school, Kellie's dad was sentenced to jail for aggravated assault and battery from a 2003 stabbing incident and served almost 4 years at Florida State Prison. She lived with her grandfather until she traveled to LA to film "Idol" at age 19.

On "Idol", Kellie was known for her sweet and ditzy demeanor, frequently compared to fellow Southern singer Jessica Simpson. Despite being the favorite of judge Simon Cowell, she did not win the title of American Idol".

Following the show, Kellie recorded her first album "Small Town Girl". The album includes "Red High Heels", for which she won a ASCAP songwriter award, and "I Wonder" which was written about her mother. The album has been certified gold in the United States for sales exceeding 500,000 copies, and it has produced three singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.

Kellie has alluded, but not admitted, to having a boob job - something first pointed out by "American Idol" host Ryan Seacreast.

Her next album is set for release in fall 2008.
