Early life and discovery
Kabukuru was born July 31, 1976 in Kampala, Uganda. When she moved to the United States, she was discovered by fashion photographer Bill Bodwell in a Los Angeles shopping center when she was 16. Kabukuru attended Nobel Jr. High School in Northridge, California, where she was known as "Alice Kabukuru."
