Early life and discovery
Kabukuru was born July 31, 1976 in Kampala, Uganda. When she moved to the United States, she was discovered by fashion photographer Bill Bodwell in a Los Angeles shopping center when she was 16. Kabukuru attended Nobel Jr. High School in Northridge, California, where she was known as "Alice Kabukuru."
Kabukuru signed with many of the world's top modeling agencies, including Women Management, Trump Model Management, and Why Not Model Agency. Her first appearance on the runway was AW97 shows. She walked for a total of 38 shows that season; three of them were Christian Dior, Gianni Versace, and Pierre Balmain haute couture. She has graced the covers of Vogue Spain and United States, Amica Italy. Her campaigns include Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino, L'Oréal, and Calvin Klein. But what put her on the map was her long campaign with CoverGirl cosmetics. She was also featured in the Pirelli Calendar of 1998. She has recently posed for the all black issue of Vogue Italia and has 10 page editorial in Red Magazine.
