Introduction
No she’s not Anne Hathaway, (or Anne’s sister) she’s Krysten Ritter, an American actress and model who was going to star in the Gossip Girl spin-off series, but the show was not picked up by The CW network. (And no, she's not Jason Ritter's sister either.)
Career
Krysten was "discovered" by a scout for Elite Model Management in her hometown mall when she was a teenager. She traveled the world doing print and TV commercial work before quitting modeling in 2001 to move to New York and focus on acting. She did a great deal of stage work before getting small parts in films such as Someone Like You... (2001), The Look (2003) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Like every other actor in New York, Krysten landed a walk on role on "Law & Order" before getting recurring roles on shows like "Veronica Mars", "Gilmore Girls", and "'Til Death". Roles in major movies followed like 27 Dresses (2008), What Happens in Vegas (2008), and Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009). Recently, she’s had a recurring role on the AMC original series “Breaking Bad” as Jane, the landlord/love interest of a crystal meth dealer. Upcoming movies for Krysten include: Margaret (2009), BuzzKill (2009), She's Out of My League (2010), and How to Make Love to a Woman (2009) based on a best-selling book by adult film star Jenna Jameson. Relax fellas, it's not a porno, it's a comedy.
When she's not acting, Krysten sings and plays guitar in a band called Ex Vivian.
Gossip Girl Spin-Off
Ritter was cast as Lily van der Woodsen's older sister, Carol Rhodes, in the proposed Gossip Girl spin-off show. The back door pilot for the spin-off, aired on the May 11, 2009 episode of “Gossip Girl.” Krysten co-starred with Brittany Snow on the show that took place in 1983 and followed Lily van der Woodsen (Snow) as she was forced to move in with her estranged sister, Carol (Ritter), in California's San Fernando Valley. They spent time wearing leg warmers and playing with a Rubik’s Cube while listening to the latest Pat Benatar album. The May 11 episode pulled in OK ratings, but The CW did not place an order for the new series. Aparently, the network could not get past the fact that the show took place in 1983, and the target audience for The CW is young women born after 1983.
