Introduction

Equally adept at drama and comedy, Lara Flynn Boyle carved out a respectable career as a hard working actress then she did something crazy to her lips.

Life Story

Born in Davenport, Iowa to a young single mother, she was raised primarily in Chicago. She struggled with dyslexia as a child. The day after she graduated from highschool she and her mother drove to Los Angeles so that she could pursue her dream of becoming an actress.

Career

Her first film role was a bit part in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Mia Sara) though her scene was eliminated from the final cut of the film. But she saw screen time in Poltergeist III and Dead Poets Society before landing the role of Donna Hayward on the ground breaking show "Twin Peaks" (Joan Chen). She would appear on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine with co-stars Sherilyn Fenn and Madchen Amick. She parlayed the success of the show into a promising career, despite being consistently out-sexied by Sherilyn Fenn on Twin Peaks (note: it is extremely difficult, some say impossible, to out-sexy Sherilyn Fenn).

She chose not to appear in the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me chosing instead to take advantage of her newly found fame. Essentially she turned her back to the show and role that made her famous, much like she would do years later to the idea of aging gracefully. She was replaced by Moira Kelly.

She auditioned for the role of "Ally McBeal" but wasn't quite skinny enough soCalista Flockhart was chosen instead. However, McBeal creator, David E. Kelly liked her so much that created a role for her on his show "The Practice". She went on to appear in more than 100 episodes and earn herself an Emmy nomination.

She played a lead role in the film Men in Black II, had a recurring role on several episodes of "Huff" and joined the cast of "Las Vegas" (Molly Sims, Nikki Cox, Vanessa Marcil) for a seven episode stint.

Personal Life

She has been married twice. Her first husband was John Patrick Dee III, whom she married on 11 August 1996 and divorced two years later. Her second and current husband is Donald Ray Thomas II, a real-estate investor, whom she married on December 18, 2006 in San Antonio, Texas.

She dated comedian David Spade but cheated on him with, and subsequently left him for, screen legend Jack Nicholson.
