Laura Benanti Introduction

Laura Benanti is the daughter of two actors, and her step-father is a psychologist. Thus is seems only logical that she too is an actress and more than likely crazy.

Laura Benanti Life Story

Primarily an actress of Broadway Theatre, Laura has been nominated for two Tony Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, for her performances in Swing! and Into The Woods; the latter also earned her a nomination for a Drama Desk Award - Outstanding Actress in a Musical. Her list of stage credits include: The Sound of Music, Swing, Into the Woods, Nine, The Wedding Singer, and the Off-Broadway production of Time and Again, and in July 2007, Gypsy.

Some actresses give it all for the theatre, and she proved to be one of those after falling into the orchestra pit during her run in Into the Woods that resulted in a broken neck and spinal surgery.

She has also made her way to the big and small screen (no pits to fall in there) with her small role in Take the Lead and a role on the 2007 ABC series Eli Stone where she will play a mother of an autistic child.

In the Fall of 2011 Laura will star on the new NBC series "The Playboy Club."
