Leslie Mann Life Story

Leslie Mann was born in San Francisco, California on March 26, 1972. Life was mostly boring and unfulfilled until she started doing commercials at 17 years old. This prepared her to catfight her way through an open audition for the role of the love interest in The Cable Guy. She beat out 500 other actresses who went on to wait tables and strip for their supper. More film offers followed, such as the cerebral George of the Jungle and Big Daddy, the latter co-starring Adam Sandler and Joey Lauren Adams.

In 1997, Leslie married writer-director Judd Apatow, with whom she has two daughters, Iris and Maude. She met Apatow on the set of The Cable Guy, which he produced. Interestingly, Apatow directed her in The 40 Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up. The audition process was extremely difficult for thos two films as well. She does not want to be known as the female George Clooney to Apatow's Steven Soderberg, so she has struck out on her own, earning roles in the upcoming Drillbit Taylor (produced by Apatow) and Seventeen (produced by Apatow's best friends). It should be noted that Seventeen co-stars Zac Efron, who is poised to crack Maxim's Hot 100 Women List this year.

In 1995, her co-star, Jim Carrey, likened her looks to Marlene Dietrich. That's all well and good for any 85-year-old war vet who actually remembers what Dietrich looked like.
