Liz Bonnin was born in France to a French father and Trinidadian mother. She moved to Dublin at the age of nine and, after qualifying from Trinity College with a Biochemistry degree, decided to take a year out and try her hand at the music business. After being asked to present the IRMA Music Awards for RTE, her career took a very different turn and she has been presenting ever since:- Liz is best known for presenting popular youth programmes such as Top of the Pops for BBC1, RI:SE for Channel 4 and Brat Camp Unseen (3 series) for E4. However, when filming Wild Trials for RTE 2 years ago, an encounter with the Bengal Tiger in Pench National Park, India inspired her to return to her science roots. She presented a four part science documentary series called Science Friction for RTE, covering topics such as Nuclear Power, Stem Cell research and Obesity and recently completed a Masters in Wild Animal Biology and Conservation, travelling to Nepal to study tigers for her research project. Liz continues to work on big cat conservation with the Zoological Society of London and is now presenting Bang Goes the Theory, BBC1’s new science series, as well as a natural history series for BBC2, due out in the spring.
