Maggie Cronin was born in Northern Ireland and raised near Co. Clare, but is now based in Belfast. She has brown hair, green eyes and is 5' 6" tall.
She trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, which was absorbed into the Central School of Speech and Drama in 2006.
To most, Maggie is best known for her role as Practice Manager Kate McGuire in BBC One's flagship daytime serial, 'Doctors'.
She was a member of the original cast at the launch of the programme in 2000, and remained as a main character until her leaving on 26th May 2006.
As the wife of Mac (played by Christopher Timothy, of All Creatures Great and Small fame), Kate was partly responsible for setting up the original practice around which the drama revolved - Riverside Surgery. As Practice Manager, she was involved regularly with the storylines of both patients and the other doctors, and is featured in the majority of the early episodes.
During her time in Letherbridge Kate endured countless trials and tribulations including a miscarriage, Mac's trial for the murder of a patient, an affair with a priest (who was later killed, played by Richard Standing) and the abduction of her and Mac's son, Ciaran.
Maggie has written her own one woman show, 'A Most Notorious Woman' (Published by Lagan Press) and toured around Ireland with it to much critical acclaim. Maggie was also the winner of the BBC Radio Drama Award in 1996.
She is known for her extensive theatre, voiceover and radio work, appearing on stations such as BBC Radio 4 ('One By One In The Darkness', Woman's Hour) and local Irish radio such as BBC Northern Ireland and Radio Belfast. Her theatre work includes roles such as Joy Gresham in Shadowlands (at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast), Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream (at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast) and Rita in 'Unless' (Scarborough).
She has also appeared in Holby City as Bel Ferris ('Seven Days Later') and The Bill as Gina ('Unlucky For Some').
