Makoto Ogawa

Makoto Ogawa (born October 29, 1987 in Niigata, Japan) is a Japanese pop singer and former member of Morning Musume. Though never the most popular member, Ogawa was one of the most talented and had a cult following due to her vocals and comedy characters.

Makoto Ogawa Career

Ogawa joined Morning Musume in 2001 alongside Ai Takahashi, Asami Konno, and Risa Niigaki. The four of them made up the group's fifth generation, known as the gokkies.

Ogawa was placed into the Morning Musume subgroup Pucchimoni in 2003. She never released a single with them, only a song called "WOW WOW WOW" that was performed live and eventually included in a compilation.

Morning Musume was divided into two splinter groups in 2003: Sakuragumi and Otomegumi. Ogawa was part of Otomegumi (the notorious "ugly duckling" group) and released two singles with them before they went on hiatus.

Ogawa announced her graduation from Morning Musume in early 2006 to study languages (presumably English) abroad. It was leaked that she was studying in New Zealand, and several photos of her there have appeared on the Internet.

After two years of pining, fans finally got Mako-chan back in June 2008, when it was announced that she was going to appear on [[Hub:Haromoni@]].

Though some consider her stupid, Mako revealed that she had brains in her head by scoring 730 (a blue certificate) on the TOEIC English test.
